My interest in partitive color, or small strokes of different colors rather than solid blocks, led me to develop a unique application technique using a syringe instead of a brush in 2010. I use this technique to create movement in my work where small, three dimensional bits of color react to their adjacent complements. The effects of this careful, methodic, almost obsessive application of paint makes my works pop in a literal sense, with my work rising farther and farther off of the canvas as I continue to experiment. I have also found ways to incorporate many non-standard mediums such as silicone, pouring medium, construction patching compounds, oil based caulking, and dental grade pumice to name a few. I use these to create unusual flowing textures and shapes which help bring my works to life along with their light filtering and shifting qualities.

I have always appreciated life science and geology, and often draw influence from patterns found in ancient animals, nature, and microscopic life forms. I often create vast fields of vibrant, vibrating color juxtapositions from these simple subjects, blending art and biology.
